Druids Cricket Club

DRUIDS CRICKET CLUB have been very lucky over the years to have had numerous people who have devoted their time, effort and their own money to ensure the club has continued to survive in a tough environment. And now we must remember one of them..It's not only a very, very sad time for the Roach family with the passing of Vic but also for the Druid's Cricket Club.

Vic played an important part in the on-going success of this iconic club at all levels.
Firstly as a player, junior coach, senior premiership coach and in numerous administration roles. He then encouraged his children to play for the Druid's and they have gone on to fill important roles as players and in administration at the club.

This shows the love and passion that the Roach family have had for Druid's and we can't forget Vic's wife Denise. She was there for many many years helping out with afternoon teas and with catering for Druid's functions and post game.

Rest in peace, Vic Roach. Wonderful memories.

OUR TEAMS

Seniors

Playing from our home ground at Kevin Shorten Reserve, the Druids have five Senior Men’s teams playing in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VCTA) competition.  With a First XI premiership win and T20 champions in season 2018/19, the Druids were promoted into the VTCA’s Senior Division in season 2019/20, where we remain. Our Second XI were also Premiers in season 2021/22 and 2022/23 saw another VTCA T20 Championship.

Our five VTCA Senior Men’s and one Senior Women’s team in season 2023/24 will be:

  • Turner Shield Senior Division – 1stXI
  • Patrick Quinn Shield Senior Seconds – 2ndXI
  • Mick O’Dwyer Shield D1 – 3rdXI
  • VTCA Shield D3 – 4thXI
  • VTCA Shield D4 – 5thXI
  • Women’s Social T20 Division 2 – NWCA

Our 1stand 2ndXI’s play a mixture of one day (40 overs) and two day (80 overs) cricket on Saturday afternoons from October through to March.

Our 3rdand 4thXI’s play in a one day (36 over) competition on Sunday afternoons from mid-October to mid-February.  These teams provide opportunities for a range of ability levels, and best suit those wishing to improve their skills, players returning to cricket from some time out, junior players looking to transition into senior cricket and parents / junior coaches who are looking for a little time in the middle themselves.

We also hosted our inaugural women’s team in season 2021/22 in the North West Cricket Association (NWCA) Women’s Social T20 competition – and walked away as Premiers!
